The International
Workshop on Multimedia Information Systems 2005 is the 11th of a series
of workshops that started in 1995 with the aim of fostering interdisciplinary
discussions and research in all aspects of multimedia information
systems, in all their diversity. This year, the workshop will be held
in Sorrento, one of the most beautiful gems of the South of Italy,
perched on a dramatic line of steeply rising cliffs, overlooking the
Bay of Naples. MIS'05 will in particular concentrate on specific research
issues related to the description and use of "context" in multimedia
information systems. The proceedings of MIS'05 will be published in
the Springer Lecture
Notes in Computer Science series. Selected papers will be chosen
to be submitted, for further review, as full papers to a special issue
on "the use of context in multimedia information systems"
of the ACM Transactions on Multimedia
Computing, Communications, and Applications (ACM TOMCCAP) journal.
